Christmas Decorations

So here we are, another year has basically came and gone and we are literally looking Christmas right in the face. Again, I love this time of year, the hustle, the bustle its like magic. It seems that people are just a little more merrier to others, IT SEEMS! I also love all the time I have off for work. I will be off for 3 weeks, one week will be spent in the Bahamas but, I'm still off. Besides you can't complain to much about spending a week in the Bahamas aboard the Enchantment of the Seas! We are taking the megabus down, so this will be interesting! Back to Christmas though. "Christmas just ain't Christmas, without DECORATIONS." My mom and I spent one afternoon decorating the house with Christmas decorations. I pulled out my tablet and put  the Christmas music on and got to work. Here is a pic.

Brunch at Copeland's is the SHIT!

So, I love to eat. Anyone that knows me, knows that I LOVE to eat. I actually enjoy the whole dining experience. The sitting down, being waited on, eating, having a drink. The whole experience is great! So I drove up to Cobb Parkway and meet my movie group for a Christmas brunch! Copeland's has THE best brunch in town. It is so yummy! And filling!
Here's a shot of the menu. Its ALL you can eat!
I enjoyed it so much, the food was good and the Jazz was amazing. Its nice to eat in such nice ambiance!

I started with lunch foods! So good!
French toast, waffle plate!
I had fresh fruit and whipped cream for dessert.
My food was great. If you are ever looking for a great lunch experience. Head over to Copeland's. The do it BIG!
I wore another wonderful dress from Gwynnie Bee! I looked and felt great!

The Importance of Giving

So since last year I've really gotten into adopting a family and I love it. I love to give back, since I am blessed, I want to pass the blessings on. So my group Making Moves adopted a single mother and her daughter Isabella. Some of the items on their list are clothes, shoes, diapers (size 4), socks, toys, children's books. bathroom towels, toiletries, dinnerware, and cleaning products. We also would like to donate a gift card to Kroger so Lededra and her daughter can enjoy a Holiday dinner. I was really glad because some people signed up right away, but a little sad that only 3 people helped. I guess I just thought everyone would jump on board to help this family. Either way, we got a lot and this family was blessed. Big thanks to Geannene, Regina, and Kyla, you ladies are wonderful wonderful people and I couldn't be more honored to know you three.

Thanks Regina for these items. Kyla thank you for the gift card!

We got so much stuff and good stuff too. We had 3 big bags full, I really hope the family enjoys these items.

Clothes for baby and mom!!
Dress for Isabella, it is Beautiful, so proud of myself.

These next items will make you cry, no lie, they are beautiful! Handmade stockings by Geannene. I am so proud to call this woman Mom!

I was so proud when I dropped my items off. Nothing like Giving love for Christmas!

Thanksgiving 2013

Greetings Turkey day has came and went. And man oh man,  I'm still stuffed. I gotta recap yall on my Thanksgiving celerbration with my family and me now and I already knew I wanted to make duck. I wanted a different meat, turkey just isn't all that to me. So the week before I went to the Dekalb County Farmer's Market and bought 6 duck thighs.
I love to bake,  my grandmother taught me how to bake when I was a young girl and every year this was our time to shine. We would bake our asses off. So this year I decided to make a Sweet Potato pound cake and a Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie. So let's dive right on in.
So, Wednesday when I got home from work I decided to marinate my duck. I wanted to find a recipe that would make the duck taste good and roast the grease off. The recipe I found sounded good. It wasn't.....
The marniating process

So, it smelled great and it looked great, but the recipe had the temp too low. Here is the link to the recipe, beware. http://londonpaleokitchen.com/2013/03/24/orange-balsamic-roasted-duck-legs. For real, dont bother with that recipe.
Now the sweet potato pound cake came out great. It was beautiful and tasted great.
Isn't she beautiful?

I killed it. Here is the pics of the Chocolate Bourbon pecan pie.
This pie got rave reviews

Overall, I enjoyed the food BUT I was dissatisfied with my duck. I was destroyed. Otherwise, i had a ball with the fam as always

Weekend in Savannah

So, early November "Making Moves" went to Savannah. If your not familiar with "Making Moves" its a social group on meetup.com. We also do some light traveling. If you would to join the web address is www.meetup.com/making-moves.
We decided to do a River boat cruise and I was so excited. I love Savannah, its like I don't even know what the appeal is but I love that city. Anyway we arrived Saturday afternoon and it was hot! But we had to rush because the Riverboat dinner started at 7, but we wanted to board the boat early. Here are some pics.
Looks real pretty in the night!

Now the boat was fun, people were dancing and partying and drinking. It was a good time. Let's talk about the food though. I thought the food was going to be better. I was expecting a lot of seafood and my expectations just weren't met. The food was good, but not great. There was prime rib, chicken, veggie pasta, squash casserole (yummy), new potatoes, and lots of other stuff. And UGH! This terrible cheesecake, it was warm and UGH! I had a Pink Long Island to drink and it was SLAMMIN.
These candy apples were so good. Reeses' and Apple Pie!
Making fresh pralines.
Overall, it was a nice relaxing getaway. I loved being in Savannah, food was good. With a good friend! Until next time.
Regina and I and the sites of River Street

P.S. On the way home we had Cheddar's. You know how we do!
Better than the others!

Why I LOVE Dave and Buster's

So our 2nd meetup was at Dave and Buster's. There is one in Marietta so that is the one I scheduled our meetup for.
First off so many people signed up and only one member shows up, so I was really upset, but besides that it was a lot of fun. I forgot how much fun it was but I really enjoyed myself. I drank, I ate. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had a Corona Rita.

It was tasty. Even though hardly no one showed. I still had a ball.

CrazySexyCool

So growing up I have always loved music. One of my favorite groups was TLC and Dru Hill. I loved loved loved TLC. So when I heard the ladies were getting a biopic, I was too thrilled. A little sad though because Left Eye is gone and I know she would have loved seeing "herstory" play out on the big screen. Either way, I loved the movie, it was amazing to see the girls story and their struggle. Even more, Chili and Dallas Austin's relationship. I didn't realize how much he put her through. Even more than that was seeing Lisa's personal issues, her dad dying was so sad. Even more than that was Pebbles cheating those girls so much and doing them so wrong. I had heard that Pebbles stole from them. I guess I always assumed it was on a smaller scale. The real kicker was T-boz and her issues with sickle cell, she was a true fighter and still is. She has beat all the odds against her. You go girl!
When the movie was first casted so many people was throwing mad shade at the cast. Keke Palmer played Chili, Drew Sideora played T-boz, and Lil Mama played Lisa "Left Eye"Lopez. At first I only had an issue with Lil Mama because I didn't think she would fulfill Lisa shoes but she did a really good job. All the ladies looked and acted like the group. Very spot on.
Spot on!

I thought the movie was really good, I enjoyed it. Of course, #black twitter and instagram makes movies that much more enjoyable. I will leave you with some of my favorite memes from the TLC biopic. See you next time!

Our 1st Meet and Greet, and Scandal give me life

Rude ass people really really irk me. I mean, WHAT THE HELL!!! Yes, rude ass people really do annoy me. We have tried to come up with some real good ideas for these dumb ass people but they just want to sit around and collect dust. I am so disappointed by some of these people. Don't want to do anything. Either way, we had fun. It was just 4 of us but it was a lot of fun. If you're in the Atlanta area. Join my meetup group at www.meetup.com/making-moves

We would love to have you!

So I love Scandal. It is hands down the best show on tv. It is so well written and all the characters are perfect for their role. I love it, I think I'm going to start adding a review every Thursday to my blog.

Tatted Up Saturdays

Tat tat tatted up! All my crew tatted up! LOL. So Saturday, my brother, best friend, and I decided to get tattoos. I was so excited because this tattoo I got my grandmother's signature. It was really emotional for me and I don't regret it one bit. I love love love it. Its just healing really strange. But its only been a week so maybe not.
It means peace, love, and yin and yang!
My grandmother, we called her Oma! She loved Germany, I miss her dearly.

So, that is how my Saturday went. In other news, who watches Scandal? Man, that is my shit!! I am going to give my thoughts in the next blog, among other things.

See you soon.

Being a Black Doll

So in the very recent past I attended my first outing with the Black Doll Affair. It was a pot luck picnic for a Black doll birthday. I wanted to be the perfect party guest and arrive with all my items and look nice too.
First things first, at every affair your supposed to arrive with a Black doll to give. That wasn't a problem at all. I had ordered my black doll weeks prior, so I had one already.
Her name is Grace!

For the pot luck it took a cake, my doll, a bottle of wine, and a lawn chair. Now Mama Doll called out my raggedy chair which made me laugh, it was truly a piece of shit. The food was good, even though there were no sides. It was yummy, the company was funny. I had a nice time and can't wait until my next black doll affair.
Officially, a black doll!
